Chicago’s new Bishop stands up for gays

Katharine Jefferts Schori, Chicago’s new Bishop, has made it clear that the American church does not stand alone it’s support of gay clergy. This comes in advance of the controversial Lambeth Conference in the summer. As you’ll recall, the support of gay clergy members is an issue that has threatened to split the Anglican church.

“Many more [bishops] than you might expect are sympathetic,” Jefferts Schori, the presiding Episcopal bishop, told parishioners at St. Nicholas Church in Elk Grove Village. “They are not, however, the loudest voices.”
