Same Sex Unions in Oregon

Same sex couples in Oregon will be able to register their relationships and enjoy much of the same rights afforded married couples from Monday. The law due to come affect at the beginning of the year but was delayed but a US District Judge suspended it to hear testimony about a petition drive that wanted to put the legislation to the vote.

Oregon becomes the ninth state to approve spousal rights in some form for gay couples, joining Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Maine, California, Washington and Hawaii. Massachusetts is the only state that allows gay couples to marry.
