Since the passing of law affording the registration of same-sex marriages in the Czech Republic in March 2006, almost 500 unions have taken place. The US blogs all seem terribly excited about it. After his State of the Nation address President Bush displayed “affection” towards an openly gay US Congressman, Barney Frank. Bush has been trying to pass legislation banning same sex marriage and is certainly not known for his liberal view on gay relationships. Personally I don’t see the fuss. Not a fan of the Bush but don’t think his political views exclude him from being nice to the gays when he’s confronted with him. Blah blah blah.
February is Lesbian Gay Transgender and Transgender History Month. To celebrate the men of Manchester’s Lesbian and Gay Foundation are going retro and will be sporting a more hirsute look. No shaving until 29 February. Who knows, some of them might discover a fondness for the look.

The wife of the Archbishop of Canterbury has said that she is expecting three or four male partners to attend her “Spouses Conference” which is held at the same time as the main Lambeth Conference. Jane Williams was speaking at the launch of the conference at the University of Kent.
Don’t forget, about 120 out of the 800 Bishops invited will not be attending the conference unless the church ends its support for gay bishops and their relationships. At this stage around 70% of invitations have been accepted. Pink News

In an attempt to stop the further spread of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases during the Rio Carnival, the Brazillian government has started handing out 19m condoms and issued warnings about safe sex and excessive alcohol. Gerard Batten, a MEP standing as the UK Independence Party’s mayoral candidate has said that he would withdraw city funding from London Pride if elected.
Mr Batten has branded incumbent Mayor Ken Livingstone’s distribution of funds to gay and ethnic minority events as “cultural Marxism,” according to the Evening Standard.
