Those Anglicans are such drama queens
The tension in the Anglican church over the American’s supposedly liberal stance on gay bishops (aren’t they all gay? Except in Africa of course) is intensifying.
The objections to the the consecration of an openly gay Bishop in the US in 2003 has not only upset the African branches of the church but even the Archbisop of Sydney, Peter Jensen has thrown his 2 cents in.
Dr Jensen told The Age, the worldwide church had irreversibly changed. Since the Americans defied the world’s bishops in 1998 and the Bible by endorsing same-sex unions and consecrating a gay bishop, Lambeth had lost its authority, he said.
I feel compelled to post about this, but oi, it’s tedious. Between this and the endless micro-coverage of the US presidential raceĀ one is feeling rigid with boredom. If you are interested though, here’s a couple links to keep you busy.
